This is our Hosta, a perennial we have in our backyard. As you can see, it’s full of holes, the leaves ripped apart like someone came through with giant hole punchers! This is what happened when the freak hail storm hit Connecticut! A bright and sunny day that suddenly became dark seemingly out of nowhere, dark clouds, flash flooding…and some pretty large hail!
Don’t be scared if your plants’ leaves also look ripped apart! They will grow more leaves. In a few weeks the shrubs will look fine, so don’t rip out the leaves or stress out trying to find ways to help it recover. It will put out more leaves.
And never think you’re safe in New England. Hail a week before June is just part of our crazy weather!
